In Humanities Class, we had to work in a simulation, in a group of four. We ¨were¨ President Kennedy’s national security advisers, and we were supposed to come up with a plan of action towards the Cuba retaliation attack to come on the US, with the USSR military assistance. After we analyzed pictures, information, and the plans of action present for us, we debated on which plan was the best option, and chose to build a blockade around Cuba, so the USSR couldn’t give them weapons anymore, and innocent Cuban lives would not be taken.
I feel that this addresses the 21st Century Civic Literacy and Engagement Skills, because I got to demonstrate my abilities and knowledge of participating in the government with my group. I was stretched in that skill, by thinking about what should be done to protect everyone, and what solution wouldn’t have bloodshed.
I would improve on something like this in the future, by choosing the most quick and peaceful option to solve the problem, while thinking of others’ physical and mental being.
